4th of July… a holiday of independence, freedom and a voice of the people….I am feeling an overwhelming sense of freedom and independence from this incredible machine and the the voice in my head is screaming, “turn the key… Just f—–g do it!”

The question BeBe the biker babe(owner of bike) asks herself when getting on her bike, “today… am I intelligent, talented, charming or hateful?? Choose!”

“Ballsy and courageous” came to mind as I sat on that sleek black leather seat and adjusted my sunglasses…a self-proclaimed adventure seeker hits the road…

Big Ben …it is the correct time!

As I was walking down Mass Ave. this clock, in a store window, caught my fancy. Specifically, the name of the clock,”Big Ben,” is what had me stop. The seconds on this clock are marked by the clicking of a feather. A design encompassing, vintage,
whimsical and modern. The name is also shared with the bell, within the bell tower, that has chimed the signal of time in London, airing on the BBC since 1924. The clock tower in London is known around the globe as the most accurate and reliable keeper of time. What do these two clocks have in common? Very little. ..Their differences are that of geographical location, a five hour time difference, their history(Westclox began manufacturing of clocks in 1904), and most undeniable is… Value. I see time as a conversation. It is not something tangible, something to hold in my hand. ~time is fleeting ~ time is a mystery ~ lost track of time ~ we can find some time… I will make time for you because, to me, YOU are valuable, not time. What is valuable to you? Are you willing to make time?

The PERFECT sunglasses…

Going, going, gone… The day fades into dusk. My eyes are very sensitive to light, I see better at night. These magical rosé colored lenses allow me to look directly into the sun, enjoying the sunset. Yet, I hear my mothers’ voice,”don’t look directly into the sun you will burn your retinas!” That very sentence has fueled years of tireless searching for the PERFECT sunglasses, that would allow me to do just what she said I shouldn’t or couldn’t…. Opening my eyes wide, seeing everything clearly without squinting through a sliver of blinding light. The under-current theme of “shouldn’t, don’t, couldn’t,” imposed or shared by others in my early years is what has developed my curiosity/strong suit of “finding the answers, solving the problem, getting the facts.”… To my mothers’ dismay… When I trumped her “mother card,” giving her the facts of why I could and should! Now, that we’ve BOTH grown up, I am asked, “could you look this up?”…. How is any of this related? Determination, tenacity, passion, drive, curiosity, NO, sometimes wanting to prove someone wrong…opens up new ways of doing family, business, love, friendship, life…with eyes wide open and actually SEEING the world you live in. Funny, how my son has the SAME desire to find the … perfect sunglasses!

Happy 1st Birthday…

One year ago today, April 18, 2012… Media Goddess R.K., said,”just do it, you’ll love it!” She was correct and I thank her from my heart for kicking my tushy over the “blogging ledge” and throwing NUMEROUS variations of lipgloss, lipstick, lipchap…as she understands that lip____ is “my cape” for all magic that I intend to create on earth. Sunday is my birthday and I intend to reflect, eat cake, celebrate with family and be with myself…presently. 2013 is the year of patience, grace, passion and courage. I pick a word on my birthday to live into for the year. Last year it was…Courage. This year it is PASSION! I recently spoke with a friend in her 6o’s that said, “Passion begets energy!” If you are passionate about something, someone, life, an interest, a cause…it is that passion that creates, is the source of your infinite energy. May I have the courage to live passionately! Thank you to all who have read and viewed the blog.

Mammogram = pulling skin from my ass

I am always amused and intrigued by “self imposed rules.” Those rules that we impose on ourselves, our lives to keep us safe, happy, engaged and healthy. Often the rules change when we see over time what works and what doesn’t.

Today I went for a mammogram, one of my many “self imposed rules” regarding preventative health, the “Take care of the girls and the girls will take care of you,” rule that will never change. Jan had to pull skin from my ass to have flesh to squish and evaluate. “Lean into the glass plate,” she says. “I am,” I squeaked, not breathing.

Prevention = me, Jan, 2 glass plates, “the girls” and my “self imposed rules.
