What I have done in the last few years is create a “Possibility” for the year…a statement, word or phrase to live into. Thus far…quite successful.

2013; Unbridled and infinite PASSION, Adventure, Courage and Love

I use my “old fashion” paper calendar as a way to keep appointments, yet more and more as a journal of daily activities, important accomplishments, a lost tooth, the prom, volleyball games etc…

The action I took on January 1, 2013,unique to 2013, was to write at the top of each calendar month a word from my “possibility,” as a reminder to “BE” the word, not simply “act” or “do” the meaning of the word. June was the month of PASSION…

PASSION is a word that can be interpreted in SO MANY WAYS what I heard this month;
“If you are passionate about something, it is the source of endless energy.”
“Do what you are passionate about, and the money will follow.”
“You have so many passions.”

Intense sexual love, a strong and barely controllable emotion, intense desire or enthusiasm for something, a crime of PASSION, “The Passion” the suffering and death of Jesus…
Ah, both an adjective and noun!

As an etymology geek…the words “suffering and anger,” are related to the root of PASSION…Hum, curious…

As the month of June comes to a close, I have held the word “Passion” in my mind daily…
searching ~ looking ~ discovering ~ experiencing ~ listening to(stories about passion) ~ listening for PASSION(when someone tells their story what is the underlying story)~being ~ watching PASSION come to the surface of one’s face when they speak about what moves them ~ what makes them sad and what makes them happy…to see in others by what their face tells me, their meaning of PASSION…Is undeniably inspiring.

JUNE IN REVIEW: I am passionate about speaking for those who can not speak, so attending my daughter’s first rally on 1/14/2013, a V-Day event…is an image that represents, “PASSION.” Meeting the Israeli artist, Maya Gelfman and being in the presence of her PASSION by listening to her story(From the Heart), traveling 6,000+ miles to my other home, my heart and PASSION…are a few examples of how I interpret PASSION.

For me, the root of PASSION is connection, connection to people, which often requires endless courage.

Please visit Maya and her work: www.mayagelfman.com

I simply have a proclivity for PASSION! July…is ADVENTURE!

Good night…Sweet dreams XO

When there is a story of silence, distance, miscommunication, joy, elation, confusion, fear, awe, it can be told if you want to see. We are amalgamated to other humans creating unbreakable connections and links that are most often obvious through family ties, community, jobs, beliefs. Then there are those connections, a binding of invisible thread that can’t be explained, that bring two separate entities together…to merge, unite, meld, fuse, combine, secure, fasten…slowly slowly over time, quietly, year after year, patiently…creating something stronger than each entity, separate, individually. The thread, for both is the serendipitous inspiration for strength, balance, growth….and….sometimes…silliness! The eyes of another can be the mirror reminding you who you are, when you forget. I will remind you…please remind me.

Specifically, the name of the clock,”Big Ben,” is what had me stop. The seconds on this clock are marked by the clicking of a feather. A design encompassing, vintage,
whimsical and modern. The name is also shared with the bell, within the bell tower, that has chimed the signal of time in London, airing on the BBC since 1924. The clock tower in London is known around the globe as the most accurate and reliable keeper of time. What do these two clocks have in common? Very little. ..Their differences are that of geographical location, a five hour time difference, their history(Westclox began manufacturing of clocks in 1904), and most undeniable is… Value. I see time as a conversation. It is not something tangible, something to hold in my hand. ~time is fleeting ~ time is a mystery ~ lost track of time ~ we can find some time… I will make time for you because, to me, YOU are valuable, not time. What is valuable to you? Are you willing to make time?

Big Ben, here…Big Ben, London…tick tock, tick, tock…

Good night…Sweet dreams. XO

<img
I am always amused and intrigued by “self imposed rules.” Those rules that we impose on ourselves, our lives to keep us safe, happy, engaged and healthy. Often the rules change when we see over time what works and what doesn’t.

Today I went for a mammogram, one of my many “self imposed rules” regarding preventative health, the “Take care of the girls and the girls will take care of you,” rule that will never change. Jan had to pull skin from my ass to have flesh to squish and evaluate. “Lean into the glass plate,” she says. “I am,” I squeaked, not breathing.

Prevention = me, Jan, 2 glass plates, “the girls” and my “self imposed rules.
