A proclivity for PASSION…
I am not one for New Years resolutions. What I have done in the last few years is create a “Possibility” for the year…a statement, word or phrase to live into. Thus far…quite successful.
2013; Unbridled and infinite PASSION, Adventure, Courage and Love
I use my “old fashion” paper calendar as a way to keep appointments, yet more and more as a journal of daily activities, important accomplishments, a lost tooth, the prom, volleyball games etc…
The action I took on January 1, 2013,unique to 2013, was to write at the top of each calendar month a word from my “possibility,” as a reminder to “BE” the word, not simply “act” or “do” the meaning of the word. June was the month of PASSION…
PASSION is a word that can be interpreted in SO MANY WAYS what I heard this month;
“If you are passionate about something, it is the source of endless energy.”
“Do what you are passionate about, and the money will follow.”
“You have so many passions.”
Intense sexual love, a strong and barely controllable emotion, intense desire or enthusiasm for something, a crime of PASSION, “The Passion” the suffering and death of Jesus…
Ah, both an adjective and noun!
As an etymology geek…the words “suffering and anger,” are related to the root of PASSION…Hum, curious…
As the month of June comes to a close, I have held the word “Passion” in my mind daily…
searching ~ looking ~ discovering ~ experiencing ~ listening to(stories about passion) ~ listening for PASSION(when someone tells their story what is the underlying story)~being ~ watching PASSION come to the surface of one’s face when they speak about what moves them ~ what makes them sad and what makes them happy…to see in others by what their face tells me, their meaning of PASSION…Is undeniably inspiring.
JUNE IN REVIEW: I am passionate about speaking for those who can not speak, so attending my daughter’s first rally on 1/14/2013, a V-Day event…is an image that represents, “PASSION.” Meeting the Israeli artist, Maya Gelfman and being in the presence of her PASSION by listening to her story(From the Heart), traveling 6,000+ miles to my other home, my heart and PASSION…are a few examples of how I interpret PASSION.
For me, the root of PASSION is connection, connection to people, which often requires endless courage.
